Relay history

Relay For Life started as the City of Destiny Classic 24-Hour Run Against Cancer in Tacoma, Washington. In May of 1985 Dr. Gordy Klatt, started this event to raise money for his local American Cancer Society office. This first event raised over $27,000.
Relay For Life events are now hosted in big cities and small towns across America. Communities, schools, and businesses now actively participate in their local Relay For Life.
